Leatherworks Basics 101


Join us for an hour of jewelry making techniques using leather cord. Quick and easy jewelry. We will explore a variety different projects you can make with leather cord. This class is more about the techniques that are taught rather than the samples that are brought home so we will practice, practice, practice! We will practice a button and loop closure, attaching different clasps, a sliding slip knot, attaching fold-over crimps, coils and end caps, along with how to connect chain to leather cord.

Stringing & Finishing Techniques Basics 101


Come join us for an hour of jewelry making tips and techniques. We will discuss bead tips and clam shells, French wire, crimp beads, and crimp covers. We will show you the proper way to add crimp beads to beading wire with crimping pliers, and how to use cones for multi-strand necklaces. We will also demonstrate how to use those fold-over crimps and spring coils that are used to attach ribbon, suede and leather. You will get to practice some of these techniques and get ready to be creative!

Earrings Basics 101


Earrings! There are SO many ways to make beautiful earrings. Come join us for an informative hour and learn the basics with some demonstration and hands-on practice. We will cover the different types of ear wires and demonstrate the correct way to work with jump rings, what head pins and eye pins are used for, and how to make a simple loop as well as a wrapped loop. You will also be shown how to make dangles, how to link a wrapped loop to another loop. What about chandeliers? Feathers? Loops? Chain? We’ve got you covered. Come practice some of these essential basics and get started creating your own masterpieces!

Mosaic Stepping Stone:

Adorn your garden with a colorful stepping stone. In this class, we will roll up our sleeves to mix concrete, set it in a mold, and then decorate the surface turning our broken shards of glass and beads into a wild design. Your stone will need to remain at our store for 5 days curing time before you can pick it up.

Flat Peyote Stitch:

Learn the basics of peyote stitch while making a beautiful bracelet. Using needle and thread we will learn to weave Delica beads into a basic stitch that will prepare you for more advanced peyote stitch classes.

Pearl Knotting:

This workshop is an excellent introduction to using carded silk thread, an awl, and the "Professional Tri-Cord Knotting Tool" for knotting between pearls and beads. Complete one knotted bracelet in class!

Down To Earth Knotted Necklace

Using raw materials such as bone, wood, seeds, stones and linen, hone your knotting skills to make a multiple strand necklace that gives a smart casual look.

Feather & Beetle Wing Earrings

Don't say eewww!   Feathers and wings are the trend right now.   Work carefully with our peacock feathers and beetle wings to create an exotic look that is sure to turn heads!

Spring Pearl Earrings:(Beginning Earrings)

Not the kind your Grandma wears! Join us in this class for a fresh spin on pearl earrings. We will teach the basics of the loop and coil technique using sterling silver wire and beautiful freshwater pearls in wild colors such as lime, navy, orange, pink, purple and, of course, white.

Woven Fancy Crystal Earrings Adorn your ears with only the finest...Swarovski crystals that is!   We will show you a way to weave crystals and tiny glass seed beads into an elegant pair of earrings.

Spring Pearl Necklace: (Basic Bead Stringing)

Girls have a hard time resisting pearls. This class will teach you all of the basics of bead stringing while using gorgeous freshwater pearls.

Fashionably Curved Earrings/Necklace Combo Work wire round and round to make a simple yet stunning piece of hand crafted jewelry.   Melissa will show you how to come up with a pendant and earrings with a very small amount of supplies.   Join us for this class and let your friends be amazed with your craft work.

Lecture: How to Market Your Craft:

Separating yourself from the crowd and establishing your work and style as professional is not always easy. Join Deborah Coule for this lecture and discuss the "do's and don'ts" of pricing, tagging, displaying, approaching businesses, appearance, follow-ups, consignment vs. wholesaling, how to present a line of work and getting what you want out of the end result. Deborah has had over 20 years experience in the beading world and has owned a jewelry gallery as well as a retail bead store. Join her for an afternoon of laughs and experience passed down.

Wire Wrapped Stone Pendant:

Create an original pendant combining the simplicity of stones and the intricacy of wire art. Learn to manipulate the wire with simple tools, forming it into a piece of unique jewelry. Bring your favorite stone. We will provide an additional stone for your use.

TREASURE NECKLACE

Bring your favorite and valuable treasures, trinkets, charms and beads to this workshop and we will show you different ways of attaching them to a chain necklace. The cost of this class includes plated chain, clasp, wire, headpins and jump rings to make the necklace. You bring the rest. If you wish to upgrade to sterling silver or gold filled supplies, you may do so at an additional fee. This class is fun and creative and everyone’s necklace is uniquely different.

 

Loomwork 101:

In this class we will teach you the very basics on setting up and using your loom, and YES...you get to keep the loom. Learn warp and weft threads and loom away. We will discuss design and how to create the look you want. You can create a choker, bracelet, anklet, hat band, head band, bookmark and much more.

Prism Necklace: (Basic Bead Stringing)

You can easily fashion our own beaded jewelry if you know the basic techniques. This class will get you started by teaching you to string a simple necklace using a crystal prism centerpiece. Learn how to choose the proper stringing materials and clasps so your creations will last!

Dreamcatchers:

Using artificial sinew, weave a dreamy dreamcatcher inside a twig frame. Beads will be provided for you to add into your design. These hang great above the bed, but also make a terrific decoration for the rearview mirror in your car.

Chain Mail Bracelet

Be a knight in shining armor, or at least a shining bracelet. J-me will show you how to join rings in a pattern that will look enchanting and will withstand the wear and tear of any battle or just daily life. Bring back the look of the middle ages with a modern twist in just a few hours.

Wood You Like To String?

(Beginning Bead Stringing) Would you like to learn how to string wood beads? Actually, it is no different than stinging regular beads (other than wood is so trendy and cute). Learn all the basics about layout, design, materials and finishing necklaces in this class. You will be schooled and ready to take on any stringing project.

 

Spiral Rope Beadweaving:

Use needle and thread to learn to weave seed beads together to form a spiraling rope that can be used to make necklaces and bracelets, as well as straps for amulet bags and/or eyeglass holders. Swarovski crystals will be used to accent the necklace for that extra bit of shine!
